Bear Lake

We went to Bear Lake for Amos's Hulse family reunion at the end of July.  As usual, we had a great time.  We drove up there on Tuesday.  We went to dinner at Bear Lake Pizza.  They have a candy store hooked to it, and the lady there gave Jace a free sucker because he is so cute. It was very cold there the first night and first morning.  Jace was excited to go to the beach to dig in the sand.  He didn't make it very far on the beach before he wanted to stop and dig.  It felt like a cool, fall day.  It was only about 60 degrees and nobody really wanted to go into the water. They rented a water trampoline. Amos took Jace out to play on it, but he didn't really like it so they came back to the beach. We met up with the extended family for dinner each night.  After Jace went to bed, Mandy stayed at the condo with him so we could go play games with the other cousins.  On Thursday, we went swimming at the pool.  Jace went on the slide and off into Amos's arms. We also rode on the boat and watched Amos go tubing and get knocked off the tube.  Jace liked it, but he made me keep his arms around him the whole time.  We went to La Beau's for lunch and to get a shake. After dinner, the family played a kick ball game.  Jace even wanted to kick and run to first base.  I ran around the bases with him. He also stood in the outfield with Amos. On Friday, the guys played there annual basketball game.  They played indoors this year and we watched.  We also went on the wave runners.  When we came back to the beach, Jace said he wanted to go again.  No one was waiting for it so we rode on it some more.  We also went on the boat to watch wake boarders.  Amos went wake boarding, but I was too cold/chicken (haven't done it since I had Jace) to try it again. After dinner there was a dodge ball game. I didn't want Jace to play, but Amos put him in anyway.  Jace was smiling and ran to get a ball, and a kid on his town team ran him over and knocked him down. He cried and got a bloody nose.  It was sad.  Besides that, we had a great time! We cleaned up on Saturday and drove home.  We visited my dad at a rehab center on the way to Bear Lake and on the way home.  He got a knee replacement.  We also got our new couch on Saturday when we got home.

Park City

Amos's dad took us to Park City for a "staycation" in the middle of July.  We closed on our house that day (finally) then drove up there. We went to dinner that night.  In the morning we had breakfast at the hotel.  They had a good selection and some hot foods.  Then we drove to Heber to ride The Heber Creeper.  It was fun to ride on a real train.  The scenery was pretty and the rafters and tubers on the river waved to us.  They had a little bit of entertainment on the train too.  After the train ride we went swimming at the hotel pool.  Later we walked around Park City main street and had dinner at a nice pizza place. Jace liked looking at all the Christmas lights (lights on the buildings).  Jace would not go to sleep very early at the hotel.  It was his first time staying in a hotel and he knew we were in the room with him.  He ended up sleeping in bed with me both nights and falling asleep around 11:30. Crazy! We had breakfast at the hotel again on Sunday and then drove home.  It was a fun weekend.
