Christmas

The first pictures are of Jace dressed up as a Christmas tree.  He wrapped himself in green bubble wrap, and Amos got the idea to put ornaments on him.  On Christmas Eve we went to my mom's house.  We had a yummy dinner, sang Christmas songs, read the account of Jesus's birth in the bible, and then opened presents.  My mom gave Jace a scooter.  He caught on very quickly and has been riding it around our house ever since.  He keeps asking to be bundled up to go outside to ride it. She also got him a stuffed kitten and some cool new little cars (street sweeper, garbage truck, city bus, deliver truck). On Christmas morning I made breakfast, Jace opened his stocking and present from Santa, and then opened presents from us.  He asked Santa to bring him birthday cake (isn't that so cute?).  He got a birthday cake and cake mix plus other fun things in his stocking.  Santa brought him a giant garbage truck complete with garbage trucks and a dumpster.  It compacts and dumps trash too.  He loved it!  We got him a book, some mega blocks, and a little Blaze car.  Jace seemed kind of sick and fussy so we cancelled going to see my dad and Laura at Michael and Amanda's.  I was worried he would get Rhett sick and that he would just be fussy the whole time.  We relaxed at home a little while and gave him some Tylenol.  He fell asleep on the way to Grandpa Mayne's, and we let him sleep in the there for 50 minutes.  He seemed better when he woke up.  He was happy the rest of the night.  Grandpa Mayne gave him a cool farm tractor and animal set and a big Blaze monster truck that transforms into a Blaze fire truck.  Grandpa Mayne didn't even know that Blaze and the Monster Machines is the only show Jace will watch.  It was a great present for him. After that, we went to Grandma Mayne's house.  She got him a fun game called Shark Bait.  Jace loves it. We have already played it many, many times.  She also got him a remote controlled tractor, but it was broken so it needs to be returned.  The day after Christmas, my dad and Laura came over.  We had dinner and then Jace opened up presents from them.  He got a bunch of a fun new games.  We had fun playing the games with them until Jace needed to go to bed.  Christmas was busy but very fun.  Our family was so generous with their gifts for us. I am glad to have our families so close by.  Some fun things we did the whole month of December were read a scripture story about Jesus each day and mark it off, color a Christmas train page, and get a treat/activity out of our advent calendar.

Snow

We actually got a lot of snow this year.  Jace has had fun playing in it, sledding with Amos, and building a snowman with Amos.  His first day playing outside, he said his favorite part was throwing snow at Mom.  How nice.  Amos made a small slide with the snow he shoveled from the driveway. When they went sledding at some small hills in our neighborhood, I stayed in the warmth of our car and took pictures from afar.  Jace was so brave and wanted to go down the hill all by himself.  He had a huge grin when he got to the bottom. Amos went down the hill a few times standing on the sled and kept crashing.  He hurt his neck a little bit. The snow was too dry the first few days to make a snowman, but finally Jace was able to help Amos make a big one with a candy face.  What a good way to use leftover Halloween candy. Jace loved the snowman and gave him a big hug.
