6 Months Old!

Jace is 6 months old today and cuter than ever!  He can sit up very well on his own now.  He reaches down for toys without falling over.  He is now rolling from his tummy onto his back.  He doesn't like tummy time as much now that he can sit up and roll back over.  He likes to make a fist and then stare at it. He likes to grab my hair. He says the mamamama and dadadada sounds, which is so sweet.  He likes trees and to grab leaves.  I sit on the bench outside with Jace to wait for Amos to get home from work.  When Jace sees Amos, his face lights up with a huge grin. We love him so much!

Things to Remember

Jace is 5.5 months old.  I wanted to write some things here about him so that I don't forget. He is scared of the vacuum, he can sit up a little bit on his own (the longest stretch has been about 30 seconds), and he is starting to play peek-a-boo with us.  We put a light blanket over his face and he pulls it off and grins.  He started laughing so hard today when we were batting balloons toward him. He laughs and smiles about a lot of things.  He is starting to make new sounds when he talks.  He had been making the m sound, but now he is making b, v, d, type sounds.  He is starting to stick his bum up in the air when he is on his tummy and wiggle his legs.  When he stands up and you hold him up a little bit, he kicks his legs up and down and looks like he is doing an Irish jig.  He is such a cutie!  I hope I never forget these cute things that he does.

Here is our first family Bear Lake picture!

Family Dinner

We had a family dinner at Grandma Karen's house while Chris and his family were in town. We played, ate some good food, and took some family pictures.  We didn't know we were taking pictures so we weren't dressed for the occasion, but some of the pictures turned out pretty cute.

Jace's First Solid Food

On Sunday, August 4th we gave Jace his first solid food.  We fed him squash.  He enjoyed it.  He kept opening his mouth for the spoon and sucked the food down.  He is growing up so fast!

Jace's First Bear Lake Family Reunion

Every summer Amos's extended family goes to Bear Lake for a family reunion.  They stay at the Ideal Beach Resort in condos.  We always have a great time.  They rent waverunners and a boat.  They have group dinners and play games.  There is an annual dodgeball game and basketball game.  The guys usually go golfing early one morning, but they didn't do that this year. Of course, we go to La Beau's to get shakes (Amos and I usually don't get raspberry though).  The last couple of years the reunion has coincided with Raspberry Days so we also visited some booths.  Amos bought a Bear Lake shirt.  If we would have stayed until Sunday, we could have seen fireworks over the lake on Saturday night.  This year with Jace was definitely different than previous years.  We didn't sleep as well since we were all in the same room.  The first night Jace woke up a lot.  I think he was scared of his new surroundings.  The nights after that, Amos kept waking Jace and me up from his snoring.  Let's just say none of us slept very well.  We had to plan beach visits around Jace's naps.  We didn't do much boating and didn't play games at night as much as we used to.  We both went on the waverunner once and Amos went wakeboarding. We took Jace on a little boat ride to see if he would like it.  We went with another baby, Morgan, who is 9 months old.  They both seemed to like it.  We were worried because he didn't like his life vest so he was fussy at first.  The vest was too big for him so it was probably pretty uncomfortable.  He looked around for awhile and then almost fell asleep.  Amos took him into the lake a couple of times and he seemed to like it.  He splashed around a little bit.  We also took him swimming at the pool.  Jace was very smiley to all of the cousins, aunts, and great-grandma.  He is such a sweetie.  I'm looking forward to future years when we can do more fun things with him at the lake- like tubing.

Uncle Rod was the ship's captain.
